Getting Rid of Baby Weight at Home

Getting rid of baby weight is no fun. After carrying a child around in your belly for 9 months, giving birth to a human being and then trying to accustom yourself to life as a mother, the last thing you want to do is sign up for the gym. Who has the time or energy for it? The best way to keep yourself motivated is to find a routine that you can get into at home that won’t require a babysitter or having to get in the car and drive there. Otherwise, you will come up with more excuses to not go and will find your gym membership investment a complete loss. If you do your exercise from home, you can squeeze it in whenever you get a spare minute, for instance, when the kids are napping. It also helps to find an activity that you actually enjoy. If you dread it, then you won’t do it.

Workout Videos

There are a plethora of workout DVD’s for every kind of exercise, whether you prefer yoga or pilates, or you want to focus specifically on your bum or abs. Shaun T’s 45 minute Insanity workout is one of the most popular video workouts. Although it is intense, you only have to set aside 45 minutes each day which is a lot easier than 60. Especially with young toddlers that want your constant attention. An even better alternative to that is his latest program, FocusT25. This takes only 25 minutes out of your day, and the results I have seen are amazing. Brazil Butt Lift is another great option if you want to go the DVD route. It promises a “sexier, more lifted butt in just 60 days”. While these might cost you a little more money, in comparison to a gym membership, it’s worth dishing out a little more up front. If you want to take an even more budget-friendly route, check out the discount DVD bin in your local Walmart. I’m always coming across workout DVD’s for under $5. Find one that you like, or even a variety if you prefer to change it up in the week, and you have your very own gym right at home.

Swimming Pool

This is my favorite way to snap myself back into shape. If you aren’t into lifting weights or running 10 miles in the blazing sun, take your workout to the pool. The pool can provide not only one of the best workouts, but it is great to improve your speed, strength, and endurance. And the best part is, it usually doesn’t even feel like you are working out. This is also a great option if you have a hard time breaking free from the kids for a workout, pop some swimmies on them and they can join you in the pool. Work on your backstroke to strengthen your back and shoulder muscles, or try a butterfly stroke to get your heart rate up. If you don’t have a pool, you can always use your neighbors or take the kids to the public swimming pool for the day. If you are interested in investing in a pool of your own, check out an above ground pool for a budget-friendly and less stressful solution.

Trampoline Exercises

Getting on the trampoline and jumping your body into shape is another fabulous way to get your body back. Trampolines can provide a full aerobic workout, while helping to improve your flexibility, strength, endurance, and tone. Just bouncing alone will shred the calories off your body, but mix it up with an array of jumps and twists and flips that will work your entire body. Whether you invest in a mini-trampoline that your toddler can also enjoy, or a larger outdoor trampoline that the whole neighborhood can enjoy, there are many workouts that can be done on each. Not only will you be happy with the results, but your children will be happy to join you.

Ride your Bike

For some reason, we don’t often associate going for a joy ride on a bicycle with working out. However, riding your bike daily is a great workout for your legs and your heart. This is another great activity for the whole family, especially if you can’t seem to find the time to do it by yourself. Find some hilly areas in your neighborhood to give yourself an extra challenge. If you do this daily, you will start to see results that you may not have expected. Bicycle riding is an enjoyable activity and not likely something you would dread. Add a 45-minute bike ride to your daily routine. I find after dinner in the early evenings works best for my family.

These are just a few ideas to get you started. Working out doesn’t have to be a drag, and doesn’t require a gym membership either. There are plenty of ways to get your body back into shape. You will feel so much better about yourself by incorporating some exercise into your day. Its great for your body, mind and spirit. It will also be a good example to set for your children in keeping them active and away from the video games.
