This is my favorite way to snap myself back into shape. If you aren’t into lifting weights or running 10 miles in the blazing sun, take your workout to the pool. The pool can provide not only one of the best workouts, but it is great to improve your speed, strength, and endurance. And the best part is, it usually doesn’t even feel like you are working out. This is also a great option if you have a hard time breaking free from the kids for a workout, pop some swimmies on them and they can join you in the pool. Work on your backstroke to strengthen your back and shoulder muscles, or try a butterfly stroke to get your heart rate up. If you don’t have a pool, you can always use your neighbors or take the kids to the public swimming pool for the day. Getting on the trampoline and jumping your body into shape is another fabulous way to get your body back. For some reason, we don’t often associate going for a joy ride on a bicycle with working out. However, riding your bike daily is a great workout for your legs and your heart. This is another great activity for the whole family, especially if you can’t seem to find the time to do it by yourself. Find some hilly areas in your neighborhood to give yourself an extra challenge. If you do this daily, you will start to see results that you may not have expected. Bicycle riding is an enjoyable activity and not likely something you would dread. Add a 45-minute bike ride to your daily routine. I find after dinner in the early evenings works best for my family.

These are just a few ideas to get you started. Working out doesn’t have to be a drag, and doesn’t require a gym membership either. There are plenty of ways to get your body back into shape. You will feel so much better about yourself by incorporating some exercise into your day. Its great for your body, mind and spirit. It will also be a good example to set for your children in keeping them active and away from the video games.
